You might be surprised to hear this, but it’s not the poses, lingerie, or photo editing that makes boudoir such a unique and powerful art form. It’s the alluring, confident, captivating woman in the photos: YOU.

Like you, boudoir is beautifully complex. No two sessions are the same because no two women are the same. And it’s important that your experience reflects your personality because there’s nothing more exquisite than your authenticity – and that deserves to be celebrated!

On the outside, your friends and family might see a strong, happy, energetic woman (and they should, because that’s part of who you are), but, under that radiant surface, you’re also beautifully vulnerable, thoughtful, and emotional. Boudoir can help highlight every unique side of your personality and reveal the true you, in your most gorgeous, authentic form.

But, to do that, you must first think about the way you want your photos to FEEL. Do you want them to feel happy and joyful? Dark and moody? Serious and emotional? Playful and sexy? Or do you want a little bit of everything?

In order to design a one-of-a-kind boudoir experience that feels authentically you, the best place to start is by taking inspiration from women who have already experienced the boudoir journey you’re about to take, and you can do that by creating a Pinterest inspiration board. This important step in the Silk & Lace Boudoir process will help you (and your photographer) understand what a beautiful boudoir experience looks like to you, so that we can work together to turn your boudoir dreams into reality on your big day.

Here’s how to design the perfect Pinterest inspiration board for your dream boudoir experience:

1. Log in to Pinterest (obviously)

If you don’t have a Pinterest account, it’s quick and easy to create one. You can also connect to Pinterest using your Facebook or Google account.

2. Browse photos to get inspired

It may seem overwhelming, at first, to build a brand new Pinterest board, but you don’t have to start from scratch because we’ve already done the hard part for you. The following boards are a collection of curated images that can fit a variety of boudoir styles. Start by skimming through some of our all time favorite boudoir inspiration photos:
  • The Silk & Lace Inspiration Library
This extensive library of boards includes great examples for hair and makeup looks, wardrobe ideas, empowering quotes, and even boards created by previous Silk & Lace clients.
  • Classic Inspiration Photos
This beautiful collection of photos displays a variety of moods, poses, and wardrobe ideas to fit any style of boudoir.
  • Portrait Inspiration Photos
This collection of up close and personal images focuses on faces for an intimate, beautiful, and unique photo shoot.
  • Silk & Lace Client Photos
What better way to find inspiration than the beautiful, sexy, and very real women who have graced the Silk & Lace studio? All of these images were created by our photographers and at our studio, so anything you see here can be recreated, just for you. These photos are located on our website, but can easily be added to your Pinterest board.

3. Create your own inspiration board

Create and name your new board. Be sure to include your first name and the word “boudoir” (for example: Sarah’s Silk & Lace Boudoir Inspiration) so we can find your board later on.

Search for images (or select your favorites from the links provided in step 2).

Hover over an image you like and click the red “Save” button in the upper-right corner of the image.
*REMINDER: Make sure you’re saving all of your inspiration images to the correct board.

Share your board with your photographer. After you’ve pinned a few images, be sure to invite your photographer to be a collaborator so she can take a look and start preparing for your shoot. You can do this by using your photographer’s email address (for example: cynthia@silklaceboudoir.com). Feel free to keep pinning inspiration photos until the day of your shoot.

That’s it! Once your photographer receives your invitation, she’ll confirm and send you a detailed list of outfits, accessories, and props to bring, based on your inspiration photos.
